Howard Deskin is the President and owner of a WSI "We Simplify the Internet" Central Virginia office, working with small to medium sized companies. Their mission is to improve clients branding and ultimately increase their profits by delivering a full suite of Internet Consulting, Marketing, Web design & development, e-Commerce, and Social Media solutions, focused on driving visitor traffic to company websites and converting the visitors into customers.

WSI is the largest Internet Consulting Company in the world with over 1,500 franchise owners in 87 countries, supported by a strong research based home office in Toronto, Canada.  There are many expert authorized solution providers and development teams in the WSI network who support the franchise owners.
Howard was originally a CPA from New York with an undergraduate degree in Accounting from C.W. Post Center-Long Island University. He also earned an MBA from Virginia Tech in 2006.  He worked for several accounting/auditing firms in the early 80’s and moved to the Richmond area in 1986 with his wife Kelly, who is a nurse.  He secured work at Wheat First Securities
in 1986 in the Finance area and ultimately was responsible for managing all the accounting systems and technology for the group. In the late 90's Howard moved to the Business Services Group after the merger with First Union, managing technology projects involving internet based workflow systems, regulatory and controls, and various automation projects to improve efficiency and capacity. He also managed the Wachovia Securities brokerage system which supported 5 million client accounts and thousands of financial advisors and operational associates.
Upon the announcement of the Wachovia Securities & A.G. Edwards merger, he was offered the opportunity to move to
St. Louis but decided early on that they were going to stay in Richmond, having two children in college at JMU, and most of their family are local.  Howard opted for the severance package and planned to leave Wachovia 3/21/09, after 23 years with
the company.

In September 2008 Deskin decided to start his own business, with a fall back plan to do consulting work for Wachovia after March 2009.  He began working with a friend, Robin Smith, from the Entrepreneurs Source, to locate a business opportunity that was the right fit.  After several weeks of interviews and research, they narrowed their choices to four businesses.
Ultimately he decided WSI was the right opportunity considering it's growth potential, company support, cost of entry, experience and skill match. He purchased the franchise in February 2009 and spent April 2009 with initial networking and extensive training from the company, both live and on-line.

Howard Deskin says "I’ve been full steam ahead managing and promoting the business since April.  I currently have 15 clients, several letters of intent, and many proposals with companies for additional business.  I am also in negotiations to purchase the accounts of another Internet Marketing company.  I absolutely love running the business, have met hundreds of people through my extensive networking around town, and feel like I’m contributing more to society than I ever have before.  My mission is to help my clients increase their profits, so they hire more people to handle their growth; those folks pump more money into their local economy which stimulates more growth. It’s a win, win, win situation."

Howard further states "John Anderson from Richmond SCORE has been working with me since late 2008, helping me through the purchase decision process, startup phase, marketing and business plans, business pains, growth opportunities, and managing the growth.   He has done a wonderful job being my sounding board, guidepost, voice of reason, idea and business generator.  He helped me figure out which paths to go down and the ones to avoid during our monthly meetings.  He was always available by email or phone and provided quick turnaround on questions.   John held a roundtable meeting of his clients in early October 09 where I met Elle Venafro, President of Tots on the Go, a travel baby gear retailer.  Tots on the Go is now a WSI client, and my company will be managing Internet Marketing for their new web site. I highly recommend all new entrepreneurs and established business owners to connect with a SCORE counselor to gain expert insight and counseling from folks who have experienced similar events in their business lives."
