SCOREcard 2018 Pitch Competition
Registration Begins February 15
How does your business model SCORE?
Richmond SCORE, in partnership with the VA Bio+Tech Park and Richmond Times-Dispatch, is conducting its SCOREcard 2018 Pitch Competition to determine which early stage or start-up enterprise can develop the most compelling business model and pitch that best articulates an “investable idea”.
The competition invites businesses within the Richmond Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA)* that are startups or in business less than one year, as defined by when they received their first dollar of revenue, to submit their business model ideas to a panel of expert judges, comprised of local business and academic leaders. The three top place winners will be awarded cash prizes, and their submissions will receive broad community awareness.
First Place – $5,000
Second Place – $2,500
Third Place – $1,000
In addition, all contestants will be assigned a SCORE mentor. SCORE is an all-volunteer non-profit association that provides, at no charge, confidential advice and mentoring to startups and existing small business owners. So win or lose, all contestants will receive valuable guidance on maximizing the potential of their businesses and an opportunity to forge a productive, long term mentoring relationship.
Once registered, contestants will submit a written analysis of their business idea on or before April 18. This analysis will be submitted utilizing a structured business planning document provided by SCORE, based on the business model canvas. Six finalists will be selected on May 4 who will go on to make an eight-minute business pitch at the Pitch Event on June 6, 2018. Judges will select three winners.
Registration – February 15 through March 16
Please check back on February 15 at www.richmond.score.org to register and for additional information about the competition.
A $50 fee will be required to register. Registration is limited.
